Concept designs to show range — these aren't real businesses. Each was designed from scratch to demonstrate what we'd build for a similar industry.

03 / About

A small studio with
a single focus.

Liston Web Studio is an independent shop based in Clearfield, Utah — serving small businesses across the Wasatch Front and beyond. We don't build for everyone. We build for storefronts, service businesses, and the sort of operators who still know most of their customers by name.

Every site is custom. Every decision is deliberate. No hidden fees, no mandatory monthly subscriptions, no agency runaround. The price you are quoted is the price you pay.

Tara Liston, founder of Liston Web Studio

Principal · Designer & Developer
Hi! I'm Tara. I've spent the last 10+ years supporting and building software for small businesses, most recently, I work as a senior implementation specialist helping companies get up and running on new platforms. I've onboarded over 3,000 small businesses across my career, so I know exactly where SaaS handholding ends and where a real, owned-by-you website starts paying off to make your brand known.
On the side, I run this studio and co-own Liquid Lava Coffee Co., a veteran-owned roaster I built and host the website for. I know what it's like to be the small business hiring a developer, because I'm one of them.

What we build

05 / Process

How we work

  1. Day 1: Free 15-minute call — tell me about your business
  2. Days 2–4: I send you a clickable preview to react to
  3. Week 2: Refine together — copy, imagery, layout
  4. Week 3: Polish, page-speed tuning, launch on your domain
  5. After launch: Free quick edits for the first year

Standard timeline. Faster if you're responsive on copy and photos.

06 / Pricing

Honest rates

From $300
Scoped to what you actually need
Always free: the first conversation, the clickable preview, and a real quote based on your scope.
Optional add-ons: domain management (~$15/yr), continued hosting (~$10/mo).
07 / FAQ

Common questions

Most people considering a new website have the same handful of questions. If yours isn't here, just ask.

How much does a website cost?

It depends on what you actually need. Here's an honest breakdown:

  • $300–$500 — A simple business-info site. 1–4 pages, hours, location, photos, contact form. No admin tools, no integrations. Perfect if you just need a clean online presence so people can find you.
  • $500–$800 — Most small-business sites. Up to 7 pages, fully responsive, local SEO setup, Google Business profile optimization, integrated contact form, real photos, first year of hosting. Where most projects land.
  • $800+ — More complex builds. E-commerce, online scheduling, payment processing, custom admin dashboards, multi-location, content management systems, real-time inventory, integrations with POS/booking software (Square, Toast, Acuity, etc.). Quoted based on actual scope.

If you want me to register and manage your domain, that's an optional ~$15/year passthrough. If you want me to host the site beyond year one, hosting is around $10/month. Both are optional — you can manage your own domain and hosting elsewhere if you prefer.

Always free: the first conversation, the clickable preview, and a real number based on your scope. You'll never get a surprise bill.

How long does the whole project take?

From first call to launched site, typically 2–4 weeks for a standard small-business site. You'll see a clickable preview within a few days of starting — that's the moment you know whether we're a fit before you've spent any money.

The slowest part is usually waiting on copy and photos from the client. If you have those ready, we can move fast.

Do I have to sign a long-term contract or pay monthly?

No. The build is a one-time payment. After your first year (which typically includes free hosting), continued hosting is around $10/month if you'd like me to handle it, or nothing if you'd rather take the site to your own host. If I'm managing your domain registration, that's a separate small annual passthrough (~$15/year).

There's no subscription, no recurring license fees, and no hidden retainer. The contract you sign is a single-page agreement covering scope and payment — that's it. You own the code and content outright.

Where are you located?

I'm in Clearfield, Utah. I work with businesses across the Wasatch Front — Salt Lake City, Ogden, Provo, Bountiful, Layton, Davis County — and beyond. Some clients are out of state entirely.

I can meet in person if you're nearby, or do everything remotely if that's easier. Most of my work happens over phone, email, and quick video calls.

Will I be able to update the site myself after launch?

Yes — though many clients don't want to. Here's how it usually works:

  • Most small updates (hours, prices, a new photo, a typo fix) — just text or email me. I'll usually have it done within 24 hours, free during your first year.
  • If you want full self-management — I can set you up with a CMS-style editor matched to your tech comfort level. Some clients want WordPress; some prefer something simpler I roll custom (this typically falls in the higher pricing tier).
  • Blog posts and content updates — most clients I host for write directly into a simple admin page I build for them. No coding required.
What if I already have a website I want to redesign?

That's actually most of my work. Older sites that look dated, sites that don't work on mobile, sites the original developer disappeared on — all common. Pricing for a redesign is the same as a new build (scoped to what the redesign needs to do), and I'll handle the migration so your existing URLs and Google rankings carry over.

Can you show me real, live work I can verify?

Yes — see Live Client Work at the top of this page. mysticalenchantments.com has been a client since 2021 (artist Megan, her shop and gallery), and theliquidlava.com has been live since 2023 (a coffee roaster I co-own).

What if I'm not ready to commit yet?

Send me a note anyway. I'll generate a free clickable preview of what your site could look like, no commitment required. If you like it, we keep going. If you don't, you've lost nothing and you're free to take the ideas elsewhere.

That preview is a real working web page, not a screenshot — you can click around and see how it'd feel as a customer.

Have a local business
that deserves a better site?

Tell me a little about what you do. I'll put together a free clickable preview — no obligation, no pitch deck, no subscription trap.

It costs nothing to talk. The first conversation, the preview, and the quote are always free. You only pay if you decide to move forward.
